Sandra is a painter, archivist, poet, and writer. Born in Tehran, Iran during the Cold War in 1956, she looks fondly back at the ‘golden Age’ that was her childhood at the American Community School of Tehran. She studied painting and photography at the Rhode Island School of Design and returned to Iran to help her family at the breakout of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. Distraught with the storm that swept her native land, she figured out a way to save her father from execution at the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Court at the infamous Evin Prison. She edited and illustrated her father’s memoir over a three-year father-daughter collaboration by phone and email between New York and Montreal. She spends her time between her grandchildren and painting portraits and landscapes and works as semi-retired assistant archivist of the Anglican Diocese of Montreal.
